I admit I was shocked when I first saw this lens. No way that something so modern could have come from 1981 and yet here we are. This is a modern, versatile, and reasonably good performing long standard zoom lens with a fixed f/3.5 aperture... in Canon FD mount. It's obvious that this laid the ground work for the eventual Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L. It's a well built lens that while large isn't overbearing on the camera. I snagged mine for a decent price off eBay but since they're quite common it shouldn't be hard to find one yourself.
